India vs England 4th Test Playing XI: Patidar to get one more game, wicket-keeper puzzle solved | Cricket News
India vs England 4th Test Squad Announcement: India will take on England in the fourth Test in Ranchi starting on Friday. With the hosts leading the series 2-1, there has been plenty of debate on the surface that will be provided for the Test match.
Traditionally the pitch at the JSCA International Stadium Complex has been slow and low and England vice-captain Ollie Pope in his assessment would call it “prepared of soil from Mars.”
While England tends to announce their line-up the day before let us have a look at what combinations India might get in with.
No Jasprit Bumrah
The fast-bowler is the leading wicket-taker in the series with 17 wickets at 13.65. His absence will be a void that is hard to fill. Given the nature of the wicket, India might also be tempted to play extra spinner. If it is a pacer with Mukesh Kumar having an average game in Vishakapatnam the team management might consider Bengal pacer Akash Deep debut.
Rajat Patidar keeps his spot
The Madhya Pradesh batter has had a quiet start to his Test career. In two games he made 46 runs at 11.50. Though he looked elegant with his shot-making and nimble in his foot movement the talent could not be converted into a substantial score so far. However, in the absence of KL Rahul, the 30-year-old will get one more opportunity in Ranchi to prove himself.
Impressive Dhruv Jurel
KS Bharat despite getting a long run in the team could not make any valuable contribution with the bat for the side. Jurel who replaced him in Rajkot looked unflustered the occasion and was technically and temperamentally sound. He was also efficient behind the stumps when the ball started turning.
India predicted XI: Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj and Akash Deep.
