India vs England tip-off XI, World Cup 2023: R Ashwin to get a game, Siraj to keep his spot and Harry Brook back in the mix | Cricket-world-cup News

Table toppers India will take on laggards England at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Rohit Sharma’s men have been brilliant in the tournament so far in all departments. The hosts are one win away from having one foot in the semifinal spot and will be hoping to get the job done on Sunday against the defending champions.
Once again for the clash on Sunday, Hardik Pandya won’t be available. Against New Zealand, the team opted to go with Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami in place of the injured allrounder. While the surface at Dharmasala is not conducive for spin in Lucknow despite the pitch having been refurbished it is still on the slower side and will be expected to turn hence the Indian side might consider bolstering their spin contingent.
As for England after the high of 2019, this is turning out to be one of the worst campaigns of their World Cup hory and they have had quite a few in the past. The difference between those sides and this is it is a competent team and many earmarked them to reach the semis and they failed to meet the expectations. Though they still have a chance to make it to the top four mathematically it is tough to see how they can get there. If they have to do it they have to start winning right from today’s game.

India vs England tip-off XI:
R Ashwin to get a game
Similar to Chennai this is one of the venues where the surface tends to grip a bit more. Hence the Indian management might be tempted to play an extra spinner for today’s contest. England also has left-handers in their batting order against whom Ashwin has a fabulous record. The off-spinner also provides the batting depth coming down the order if needed.

Mohammed Siraj to keep his spot
While Mohammed Shami has had a fabulous outing against New Zealand. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj’s pairing with the new ball has been top-notch. Right from the word go the opening bowlers have piled pressure on the opposition. Siraj has been lethal with his swinging deliveries and cross-seamers with new balls and has given breakthroughs for the side in the middle overs as well. Hence Rohit might look to go with him yet again.
Harry Brook to get back into the side
The English youngster has been dropped from the side’s clash against Sri Lanka. Liam Livingstone who has come into the side could not make much of an impact. The addition of Harry Brook might take away a bowling option from Buttler but it will certainly add more batting depth and England’s batting has been very poor in the tournament.
