India’s Laapataa Ladies (Lost Ladies) is out of the Oscar race as the shortls for the 97th Oscars were announced in 10 categories, including the Best International Feature category. Another Indian film Santosh, co-produced the United Kingdom and its official entry this year, made it to the shortl.
However, live-action short Anuja, produced Guneet Monga Kapoor, has made it to the shortl in the category. The film focuses on the use of child labor in the garment industry.

The Oscar shortl whittles down submissions from 85 countries to a l of 15 films. This year, films such as Emilia Perez and The Girl With The Needle and From Ground Zero have made it to the l.
