Industrial tunnel collapses in Los Angeles: 15 workers trapped, rescue operation launched | World News

At least 15 workers have been trapped inside an industrial tunnel in US’ Los Angeles after it collapsed on Wednesday night in the Wilmington area, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) in a statement added that the collapse happened up to six miles away from the tunnel’s only access point, reported New York Times.

The incident was reported at about 8pm in the 1700 block of N. Figueroa Street. Over 100 fire department personnel, including Urban Search and Rescue responded to the site of the collapse.
The LAFD said that no injuries have been confirmed yet in the incident. Footage aired local news outlets showed workers being brought out of the tunnel in a cage which was hoed up using a crane.
