IPL 2023: Floodlights failure at Mohali’s PCA Stadium delays Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders game
IPL 2023: The second innings of the Punjab Kings versus Kolkata Knight Riders game at Mohali’s PCA stadium on Saturday was delayed several minutes after there was a floodlights malfunction.
When Kolkata’s Mandeep Singh and Rahmanullah Gurbaz came out into the middle to open the innings against Sam Curran, who was handed the new ball, the floodlights played spoilsport.
After waiting for almost 10 minutes in the middle for the lights to come on, umpires took the players off the field in a game that was the IPL 2023 opener for both sides.

Batting first Punjab Kings had posted a total of 191/5 against the Kolkata Knight Riders, thanks to Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s quickfire 50 and captain Shikhar Dhawan’s 40.
For KKR, Varun Chakravarthy (4-0-26-1) and Umesh Yadav (4-0-27-1) were the pick of the bowlers but the overseas pair of Tim Southee (4-0–54-2) and Sunil Narine (4-0-40-1) and India’s Shardul Thakur (4-0-43-0) proved to be expensive.
