IPL 2023: MS Dhoni smacks back-to-back sixes in last over to shoulder CSK to 200 against Punjab

Chennai Super Kings captain, MS Dhoni delivered another classic death overs cameo as he nailed consecutive sixes off the final over to help his side reach the 200 run mark against Punjab Kings in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League on Sunday.
Coming in to bat in the last over following Ravindra Jadeja’s dismissal, Dhoni scored 13 off three deliveries, adding two more maximums to his tally of 57 in the final over in IPL. A fierce square cut followed a hammered blow over deep mid wicket off a low full toss from Sam Curran.
It was the second time this season that Dhoni had amassed back-to-back maximums. The previous instance had also taken place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai when the hosts played Lucknow Super Giants in their first home game of the season. It was Mark Wood who was bowling then.

Earlier on Sunday, CSK won the toss and opted to bat first. Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad (37 off 31) added 86 runs for the first wicket with Devon Conway, who went on to score 92 off 52 deliveries. Conway’s innings consed of 16 fours and one maximum.

Chennai go into their ninth game of the season with five wins in their first eight. In their previous outing, Rajasthan Royals had bested them in Jaipur 32 runs.
Punjab on the other hand, have four wins from their eight previous games this season and were battered the Lucknow Super Giants 56 runs in a game where they posted the second highest total in IPL hory.
