IPL 2023: Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis are going to feed off each other perfectly, says Chris Gayle

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) superstar Chris Gayle praised skipper Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli for their 148-run blering opening stand against five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
Speaking on JioCinema, Gayle said, “We know Faf is class. He’s an excellent captain and an excellent player. He has done it all over international cricket as well, so this is not new to Faf.”
“One thing I can tell you, Virat and Faf are going to feed off each other perfectly. Look at the way they start, they look to drop and run. They pick up their ones and their twos and the third overcomes, they’re ready to take it out. That’s something bowlers and teams got to be aware of because these two, I’ve said this before, you’re guaranteed almost 400 runs,” he added.
Kohli and du Plessis struck attacking half-centuries to guide RCB to an eight-wicket While Kohli remained unbeaten on 82 off 49 balls, du Plessis made 73 off 43 balls to set the platform for the chase which RCB achieved in 16.2 overs.
Former Chennai Super Kings superstar Suresh Raina praised RCB’s chase as he said, “The way RCB chased the total down in 16 overs, this will help their run rate later in the tournament,” said Raina. “MI’s bowling looked really weak. It didn’t even look like a wicket would fall,” he added.
Former Mumbai Indians and RCB left-arm seamer RP Singh was impressed Tilak Varma and said, “MI were struggling when he came into bat as the top order was back in the dugout then. But he did a commendable job of resurrecting the innings and then scoring big himself.”
Mumbai Indians rode on Tilak Varma’s stroke-filled unbeaten half-century to post a competitive 171 for seven against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Varma scored an unbeaten 84 off 46 balls and decorated his knock with nine boundaries and four sixes to help MI post the total after being sent into bat.

Varma was the lone bright spot in MI’s batting department on Sunday. For RCB, spinner Karn Sharma picked up two wickets, giving away 32 runs from his four overs.
