SRH vs KKR, IPL 2024 prediction:Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders will open their campaign on Saturday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.SRH and KKR will be featuring in the evening match with a 7:30 pm start following the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings match from the afternoon.
With a massive overhaul at the auction before the IPL-17 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad have a problem of plenty in terms of their squad composition, headlined a star-studded overseas lineup.
Who will be Sunrisers Hyderabad’s four overseas players against Kolkata Knight Riders today?
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have eight overseas options with captain Pat Cummins being an automated choice. That leaves the Orange Army with three more spots likely to fill in the XI with their foreign players. Their options are former captain Aiden Markram, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Glenn Phillips, Marco Jansen, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Wanindu Hasaranga.
With SRH lacking quality Indian batters in their arsenal and compensating on the bowling front with plenty of local resources, they will likely shore up their batting with overseas options. Therefore, besides captain Cummins, three of Markram, Head, Klaasen, and Phillips are likely to come into the picture.
Having lit up the IPL 2023 season with his belligerent batting, Klaasen will be SRH’s number-one choice for wicketkeeping duties ahead of Phillips, who has transitioned himself more to an all-rounder. Klaasen piled up 448 with a hundred and two fifties at a strike-rate above 177 last season.
Cummins’ compatriot Travis Head, player of the match of the last ODI World Cup final in India, is likely to fix an opening spot. Head also comes in handy with his part-time off-spin. SRH will have a tough time picking between Markram and Phillips for the match in Kolkata.
However, given his tactical nous and solidity at the number four slot, Markram is likely to pip Phillips who plays a floating role in the middle-order.
