IPL 2025: All rounder Shardul Thakur roped in injury-hit Lucknow Super Giants | Ipl News

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have roped in Mumbai fast bowler Shardul Thakur for a base price of Rs 2 crores after injuries hit their fast bowling line-up. Thakur will replace left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, who has a calf injury. The Centre of Excellence (COE) at the National Cricket Academy has informed LSG that Khan is 50 percent fit and can be back on the field later during the course of the IPL.
Thakur, who had gone unsold in last IPL mega auction, will travel with LSG for the first game against Delhi Capitals in Vizag and is expected to share the new ball with Shamar Joseph. The Indian Express understands that Thakur’s contract signing was delayed because of the fitness clearance report from the COE, which the franchise received on Saturday afternoon.
The franchise has sought an update on the fitness of its other fast bowlers, Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan and Akash Deep. The COE has informed LSG that India’s fastest bowler Mayank will be fit mid April 15. Akash and Avesh, who is yet to be cleared post a knee injury, are set to miss the first three matches.Thakur has been at the LSG training nets for the past week. He was also mentioned in a LSG social media post, which was deleted within hours. The deletion raised speculation of him being roped in LSG. Thakur was also seen in Holi videos of the team and appeared in the training jersey.LSG’s mentor Zaheer Khan when asked about the injury concerns in the team had said they were ready for ‘uncertainties to occur’.
”We can’t really say much as our players are currently with the NCA. We are working alongside them to see how things move forward. The situation is dynamic and when you’re talking about the IPL you have to be ready for uncertainties to occur. We plan for the season accordingly with 24 players, we have to field the playing XI that upholds the brand of cricket we want and win. This is a positive unit and you will get to see a positive approach,” Zaheer said in a press conference.
