IPL 2025 : ‘Every team in IPL could lose….’ : What Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Vettori told the team post the loss against Super Giants | Ipl News

With the five-wicket loss against Lucknow Super Giants during their home match in IPL at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad last night, Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered their 22nd loss out of 58 matches played at their home venue in IPL hory. Last year, Sunrisers Hyderabad had won five out of six home matches played at Hyderabad and Thursday’s loss was their first loss in this year’s IPL after their win against Rajasthan Royals last week. Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori has urged the team to take good stuff from the loss against Super Giants.
“Every team in the IPL could lose six odd games. We just had one of them. But I think if you look at our performance, there is a lot of very good stuff. And a lot of stuff that we talked about particularly about the assessment of that wicket. I think we have come from a surface that was 280 and then the feedback early on was around 200-220. And barring a couple of unlucky dismissals, Nitish and Klaasen, we were well on our way,” said Vettori during his speech to the team post the loss as shared Sunrisers Hyderabad social media.
Sunrisers Hyderabad lost two quick wickets before Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy took the score to 75 for 2 in 7.2 overs. Post the departure of Head, Reddy and Heinrich Klassen added 34 runs for the fourth wicket before Klaasen was run out Prince Yadav. While Reddy departed soon, Aniket played a 13-ball knock of 36 runs and the 23-year-old drew praise from Vettori. “And the way we went about it, particularly that middle order, when we put ourselves under a little bit of pressure, Nitish soaked it up, Head soaked it up. And then handed off to Aniket, who had an amazing innings from the time he came in. To do what he did in that situation, to understand that you could still play your style of game, still you could take those balls on. That was very commendable. Patty completed it as well and we got to a score of 190, which I think was competitive,” said Vettori.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will now face Delhi Capitals at Capitals’ home ground venue of Vizag on Sunday. On Thursday, all Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers except skipper pat Cummins gave away runs at an economy of more than ten runs and Vettori sees the team finding more ways with the ball. “But we also know that when we got to Vizag, completely different conditions, completely different ground size, And we are going to have to build maybe a slightly different plan to do what we do here. Our style will remain the same, but the question we ask ourselves will be just a little bit different. So quick learnings from the game was that the intent was perfect and we will just find a couple more ways with the ball and understand when a batsman is in that form, we just have to jump into a few different types,” said Vettori.
Captain Pat Cummins too shared his thoughts about the team taking some time to set things. “I think not a lot was right for us tonight. But we still managed to get away, get up to 190 probably yeah well in the game. So it’s going to be some nights where things go really well. Some nights like tonight where it doesn’t go particularly according to the plan but I think you can see we are going to be super competitive,” said Cummins.
