IPL Auction 2024: David Warner discovers he is blocked SRH after he was trying to congratulate Travis Head | Cricket News
David Warner realised that he has been blocked Sunrisers Hyderabad, while he was trying congratulate his Australian teammate Travis Head for joining his former franchise. Travis Head was picked Sunrisers for Rs 6.8 crores.
Warner is Sunrisers Hyderabad’s all-time leading run-scorer, with over 4,000 runs, and has led them to their first IPL title ever in 2016. he had also won the Orange Cap for three times during his time at the club.
Warner was a fan favourite at SRH before the relationship between the team and him began to turn sour during the 2021 season. He was sacked from the captaincy and was then axed from the team altogether in 2021.
SRH released Warner ahead of the IPL mega auction in 2022 and then he joined Delhi Capitals.
“The disappointing thing for me was not being explained why I was dropped as captain,” Warner had said on Sports Today at that time.
“I think if you want to go along the lines of form, it’s a difficult one because I guess whatever you’ve done in the past would have some weight moving forward, especially when you’ve played 100 games for the franchise.
“You don‘t know who is going for you, who wants you to be selected, who doesn’t. End of the day you’re told you’re not playing. “It’s difficult, a bitter pill to swallow, but I don’t think I will ever get answers and must move on.”
Warner led Delhi Capitals in the last season and it is likely that he will do the honours again in this season, unless Rishabh Pant is fully fit.
