IPL Man of the Match Awards L update: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli rolled back the years on a spectacular Sunday double-header of IPL 2025 in their respective games. The IPL’s two highest run-getters set up wins for their respective teams, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and inevitably landed the Player of the Match award.
While Kohli’s umbeaten half-century for RCB against the Punjab Kings in a reverse fixture in Mullanpur earned his side their fifth win on the trot away from home, Rohit finally came good with the bat for MI in a thumping nine-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings. The 37-year-old Rohit got going with a six that landed in the stand that will soon be renamed in his name at the Wankhede. His unbeaten fifty also helped him surpass Shikhar Dhawan as the IPL’s second-highest run-scorer, only behind Kohli.
Rohit’s knock set up MI’s win, earning him his 20th Player of the Match award in the IPL, bettering Kohli among Indians after the former RCB captain had equalled him earlier in the evening. Rohit also leads the six-hitting charts among Indian batters, raising his tally to a collossal 292 with six maximums against CSK. It is also Rohit’s joint-best tally in an innings in the IPL.

Meanwhile, Kohli’s half-century in the Punjab clash was his 67th fifty-plus score in the IPL, helping him surpass David Warner’s tally to become the batter with the most fifty-plus scores in the league. Kohli has now amassed eight centuries and 59 half-centuries since the inaugural season in 2008.
Overall, South Africa legend AB de Villiers tops the leaderboard with 25 Man of the Match awards in the IPL, followed Chris Gayle’s 22.
