HRANA said it relies on an activ network inside Iran for its reporting. The group has been seen as reliable during previous periods of unrest.

The semi-official Fars news agency, which is seen as close to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, said on Monday that around 250 police officers and 45 members of the Basij volunteer force have been injured in the demonstrations.

Authorities have not released an official nationwide casualty total, Reuters said. The protests are linked to economic hardship and rising living costs, and have spread to several cities. The United States has said it is following developments closely.
