Chief Minister heads state level steering committee meeting

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that effective efforts are necessary to connect the families displaced from the protected areas of Vananchal (forested regions) with livelihood. By providing necessary training to the youth of such displaced families, they should be connected with employment activities by upgrading their skills.

Chief Minister Chouhan expressed pleasure over the increasing number of tigers in the state. He stressed the need for systematic management of tigers. Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing the second meeting of the Madhya Pradesh State Level Steering Committee. Forest Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Forest Ashok Varnwal, Principal Secretary Scheduled Tribes Welfare Pallavi Jain Govil, Forest Department officials and committee members were present in the meeting held in Mantralaya.

It was informed in the meeting that out of 8826 beats in the state, presence of tiger has been found in 1858 beats. The posts of 10 veterinary doctors have been created in the forest department for the treatment, rescue and prevention of diseases among wild animals found in the protected areas and regional divisions of the state.

Suggestions were also received in the meeting to conduct a fire audit at the state level to control forest fires and to develop a guideline for eco-tourism by the state government.
