Irfan Pathan alleges Connor Williams not made coach as he doesn’t say ‘hello’ to Kiran More

FORMER India all-rounder turned commentator Irfan Pathan has accused Kiran More of not picking a coach for the Baroda senior team as the coach didn’t say ‘hello’ to him.
In an email sent to Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) office bearers, accessed The Indian Express, Pathan said the action and statement made former India wicket-keeper More has left him ‘deeply unsettled’.
The Baroda Cricket Association Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) which has More as its chairman and Pathan as one of its members had met recently to appoint a new coach of the Baroda team. Pathan was keen to have a local coach going forward this season and he had suggested former Baroda player Connor Williams’ name for the head coach role. However, CAC didn’t agree to it.
“I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of utmost concern that unfolded during today’s CAC meeting. It is with great disappointment that I witnessed a particular incident involving a Baroda cricket member that is contributing to the downfall of our esteemed institution. The actions and statements made Kiran More during the meeting have left me deeply unsettled,” Pathan wrote in a long letter.
It further reads, “More’s assertion that he will obstruct Connor Williams from joining the coaching setup of the Baroda Ranji team simply because of a perceived lack of greeting (“He doesn’t say Hello to me”) is, in my opinion, an absurd and petty justification. This kind of behavior is unbecoming of a senior figure like More, and it reflects poorly on the values we hold as an organization.”
Pathan has urged that the association must rise above such trivial matters and prioritize the greater good of Baroda cricket. He further wrote, “Williams himself is a Ranji Trophy champion and has dedicated over a decade of his life to representing Baroda cricket. It is only fitting that we acknowledge and respect his contributions. Our institution is bigger than any individual, and it is imperative that we remember this fundamental principle.”

Pathan has requested the ‘decision-makers’ of Baroda cricket, to intervene and address this issue promptly. “It is essential that we foster an environment of professionalism, respect, and fairness within our organization. Let us not allow personal grievances and insignificant disagreements to hinder the progress and unity of Baroda cricket. And this all happened in front of the Baroda Cricket CEO,” he concluded.
Pathan and More were both unavailable for comment.
Mukund Parmar to coach Baroda
Meanwhile, the CAC has appointed former Gujarat batsman Mukund Parmar as head coach for Baroda senior team while former Karnataka pacer S Arvind has been appointed as the bowling coach for the season.
