Zelenskyy says 390 Ukrainians returned in prisoner swap with Russia  | World News

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Friday that 390 Ukrainians had been released from Russian captivity as part of a prisoner exchange agreement between Ukraine and Russia. The exchange marks the beginning of a “1000 for 1000” deal brokered in anbul.
Speaking on Telegram, Zelenskyy said the process would continue over the weekend. “We expect the exchanges to carry on on Saturday and Sunday,” he said, according to Reuters.
The Russian side earlier stated it had exchanged 270 Ukrainian soldiers and 120 civilians for an equal number of Russian detainees.

Zelenskyy stressed the importance of bringing all captives home. “It is very important to return everyone who is in captivity. We are checking every name, information on every person,” he said.
He added, “We will continue our diplomatic work to make such steps possible.”
The agreement, facilitated in anbul, represents one of the largest organised exchanges between the two countries since the conflict began.
