Israeli miner warns of ‘biblical 10 plagues’ after Houthis fire missile | World News

A suspected attack Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeted a ship in the Red Sea on Thursday, an Israeli military official said. It did not inflict any damage to the ship or its crew.
The attack off the coast of Hodeida on Thursday follows an Israeli strike last week that killed the rebels’ prime miner along with several officials. Ahmed Ghaleb Nasser al-Rahawi was the Prime Miner of the Houthis-controlled north-western Yemen since August 2024.

Houthis vs Israel
The Iran-backed militia had been launching missiles at Israel, in solidarity with Hamas and Hezbollah, following the October 7, 2023, terror attack and its aftermath. From November 2023 to December 2024, the Houthis targeted more than 100 ships with missiles and drones over the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip. In their campaign so far, the Houthis have sunk four vessels and killed at least eight mariners. The Houthis stopped their attacks during a brief ceasefire in the war.

The Houthis have been using cluster munitions in their missile as the smaller explosives are harder to intercept, raising the chances of strikes against Israel.

The Houthis targeted at least one other ship in recent days as well. The Houthis’ new attacks come as a new possible ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war remains in the balance.
Will inflict biblical plague: Israel defence miner
Meanwhile, Israel’s Defence Miner Israel Katz on Thursday said his country will inflict the biblical 10 plagues of Egypt on Houthis.
“The Houthis are firing missiles at Israel again. A plague of darkness, a plague of the firstborn — we will complete all 10 plagues,” he posted on X.
He was referring to the 10 disasters that the Book of Exodus says were inflicted on Egypt the Hebrew God to convince the pharaoh to free the enslaved Israelites.Story continues below this ad
Earlier on Thursday, the Israeli army said a missile fired from Yemen struck outside Israeli territory, a day after it intercepted two Houthi missiles.
