Israeli settlements in West Bank

The West Bank is home to over 4 million people, including around 3.3 million Palestinians and 670,000 to 700,000 Israeli settlers living in settlements, which are considered illegal under international law.

Israel occupied the West Bank after the Six-Day War in 1967 and in recent weeks, the Netanyahu government’s plans to annex parts of the area had caused international outcry.

Last month, ahead of his meeting with Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump said that Israel cannot annex the occupied West Bank.
