Israeli strikes on media tent near Gaza hospitals kills Palestinian reporter, wounds six | World News

Israeli airstrikes overnight targeted tents — including those housing reporters — near two major hospitals in Gaza, killed at least two people and injured nine others, according to medics.
The strike outside Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis around 2 am ignited a media tent, killing Yousef al-Faqawi, a reporter for Palestine Today TV, and another man. Six other journals were wounded in the same strike. Israel’s military said it targeted a Hamas militant but did not provide further details.
The military claimed that it aims to avoid civilian casualties, blaming Hamas for operating within residential areas.

Strikes near second hospital
Three people were injured in a separate strike near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. Nasser Hospital reported receiving 13 more bodies from other overnight strikes, including six women and four children. Al-Aqsa Hospital reported two deaths and three injuries from a strike on a home in Deir al-Balah.
Thousands of displaced Palestinians have sought shelter in tents within hospital compounds, assuming these locations would be less likely to be targeted. Israel has previously raided hospitals, accusing Hamas of using them for military purposes — a claim denied medical staff.
Civilian toll mounts
Separate strikes reportedly killed at least 32 people, including many women and children, health officials said on Sunday. A single strike in Khan Younis killed 15 people — five men, five women, and five children — according to Nasser Hospital.
Israel’s military also responded to a barrage of around 10 rockets fired from Gaza into southern Israel, intercepting about five. Hamas’ armed wing claimed responsibility. One man in Ashkelon sustained minor injuries. Israel later targeted a rocket launcher in response.Story continues below this ad
War in its 18th month
The war, now in its 18th month, escalated after Hamas-led militants attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people and abducting 251. Of those abducted, 59 remain in captivity, with 24 believed to be alive. Israel has vowed to continue military pressure until Hamas releases all hostages, disarms, and exits Gaza.

According to Gaza’s Health Minry, over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed in the offensive — mostly women and children. Israel claims 20,000 of those killed were militants, but has not provided evidence. The military has blocked imports of food, fuel, medicine, and aid since early March. At the height of the conflict, around 90% of Gaza’s population was displaced.
Israeli Prime Miner Benjamin Netanyahu is in Washington to meet former US President Donald Trump to discuss the war and broader regional strategy. Netanyahu has proposed implementing Trump’s earlier plan to relocate much of Gaza’s population through “voluntary emigration.”
