West Indies player Kyle Mayers and Virat Kohli shared a few heated words when they were representing their Indian Premier League franchises Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last edition of the tournament.
After the match, Mayers and Kohli were seen exchanging words before the former was taken away from the scene LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir. After that, Gambhir and Kohli had also gotten into a spat which had to be broken up players from both sides.
Mayers recently opened up about the incident and said in an interview with FanCode, “It’s great, sometimes you need to get at your opposition, to create any chance to get out of the game. Being aggressive is always good, it shows courage and the willingness to get your team over the line.”

He also said that between Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he would prize the former’s wicket more. “I think Kohli. Any bowler would want to dismiss Kohli, the best player across all three formats,” he said.
After the match, Kohli and Gambhir were seen exchanging words and had to be separated the two sets of players, including RCB captain Faf du Plessis and his LSG counterpart KL Rahul.
The incident seemed to have originated following what appeared to be in-game sledging involving Kohli and Lucknow’s Naveen-ul-Haq when the latter came to bat during the chase. Following RCB’s win in an emotionally-charged contest, the two players had to be separated after a conversation during the handshakes took an ugly turn.
