‘It’s mental not technical’: Virender Sehwag on Rohit Sharma’s struggle in IPL 2023
Former India opener Virender Sehwag believes that the struggle of Rohit Sharma is more mental than technical.
In the IPL 2023, Rohit Sharma has scored only 184 runs at 18.39 and a strike rate of 126.89. He has managed one fifty in ten innings.
“Rohit Sharma is not battling with the bowlers but with himself,” Virender Sehwag told Star Sports.
“There is a mental block. There’s no problem with his batting technique.
“Some confusion is going on in his mind. But the day he gets going, we will make up for all the previous matches.”
Rohit Sharma is the most successful captain in the hory of the IPL, having led MI to five titles – the highest in the IPL – in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.
However, they had their worst seasons last year, when they finished last on the points table. This season they currently sit sixth on the table.
On Tuesday, Mumbai Indians will host Royal Challengers Bangalore at Wankhede Stadium.
