‘It’s very good for aura cleaning’: Jaya and Shweta Bachchan hail rock salt scrubs for smooth skin | Lifestyle News

Jaya Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda’s podcast What the Hell Navya, uncovers a treasure trove of wisdom when navigating life as a woman in India. In a recent episode, the host invited her grandmother and mother, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, to discuss all things womanhood, career, love, and wellness. As the conversation veered towards beauty tips, the Bollywood veteran shared that she loves rubbing salt on her body to exfoliate her skin and get rid of bumps.
“Even I do it after my bath, all over my arm. It’s very good for aura cleaning,” added Shweta.
According to them, rubbing rock salt on the body is a natural exfoliating ritual that helps remove dead skin cells, improve circulation, and detoxify. The minerals in the salt nourish the skin, leaving it feeling smooth, refreshed, and revitalised, revealed the mother-daughter duo.

To verify their claims, contacted Dr Shareefa Chause, a dermatolog at Dr Shareefa Skincare Clinic in Mumbai.

How are rock salt scrubs helpful?
Rock salt is not just an ingredient used in cooking; it is a component of scrubs and baths for its potential skin benefits.
“According to various studies, rock salt is believed to exfoliate dead skin and improve circulation. The minerals in rock salt, such as magnesium and potassium, are also known to soothe sore muscles and promote relaxation when used in a warm bath. Many people have used this remedy for ages,” said the expert.
However, she led multiple cons to using it.”The coarse texture can be too abrasive, leading to skin irritation, micro-tears, dryness, bumps, and rashes. One’s skin can get damaged and become sensitive. Overuse can strip the skin of its natural oils, making it prone to dryness, redness, and discomfort,” said Dr Chause. If applied to inflamed skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea, it can cause burning, irritation, and redness, she added.

“Remember that those with extremely dry or sensitive skin, eczema, psoriasis, or any skin allergies should avoid using rock salt or scrubs directly on the skin,” she stressed, cautioning against blindly following any trend without understanding its repercussions and consulting an expert.Story continues below this ad
