Jaat box office collection day 9: Sunny Deol-starrer holds steady against Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2, earns Rs 66 cr | Bollywood News

Jaat box office collection day 9: Although Sunny Deol’s recent film, Jaat, directed Gopichand Mallineni might not be racking in huge numbers, the film has been going steady since its release last week. In fact, the film, on its second Friday, made Rs 4.25 crore, which is slightly better than the Thursday numbers. This collection is even more impressive considering the film faces stiff competition from Akshay Kumar’s latest, Kesari: Chapter 2.
With a sequel already planned for the film, Sunny Deol fans might be a happy lot of people, especially since scenes from the film have found their way on social media. In fact, the film’s occupancy moved up from 10 percent on Thursday to around 15 percent on Friday, which was also the holiday for Good Friday. The nett domestic collections of the film currently stand at Rs 65.9 crore.
Kesari: Chapter 2, which is this week’s big Hindi release, has has had a smaller opening as compared to Jaat, and it would be interesting to see if Akshay Kumar’s stardom has more legs than Sunny Deol’s box-office pull. Four months into 2025, Hindi cinema has only had a handful of films entering the Rs 100 crore club. While Chhaava exceeded all expectations to become the highest-grossing Indian film of the year, Sky Force and Sikandar too entered the club.

Jaat also ran into hot water due to sections of audience taking offence to some scenes from the movie, especially the ones that were found disparaging to the Chrian community. After a case was filed against the makers and actors, the scene was deleted, and Mythri Movie Makers, the producers of Jaat, officially rendered an unconditional apology for the same.
It is yet to be seen if Jaat can hold its own against Kesari Chapter 2 as the latter has been getting some good reviews. Jaat also stars Randeep Hooda.
