Jamie Carragher brands Mohamed Salah ‘selfish’ for airing his grievances in public for not getting offered new Liverpool contract yet | Football News

Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher said Mohamed Salah was selfish for saying to the media that he was disappointed due to Liverpool not offering him a new contract till now.
“Well, we are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in.”,” the 32-year-old Egyptian had said recently after Liverpool’s match against Southampton.
He added: “You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.”
Reacting to this, former Reds defender Carragher said that he was disappointed in the player who already has 12 goals and 10 asss for Liverpool this season.
“I must say I am very disappointed with Mo Salah. Liverpool have Real Madrid midweek (in the Champions League) and Man City at the weekend. That’s the story right now,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“If he keeps putting comments out, his agent puts out cryptic messages, that is selfish. That is thinking about themselves and not the football club,” he added.
As of now Salah remains within reach of a contract with Liverpool but in another five weeks, the club legend will be able to negotiate contracts with other teams for next season. A pre-season contract signed in January will mean that Liverpool would then be unable to hold onto their star player. Salah is reportedly on a salary of 350,000 pounds a week, a number usually reserved for the league’s world-class players.

At 32, that might be a number that has caused Liverpool to baulk considering his age.
