Jenna Ortega reveals she was in Iron Man 3, but no one noticed: ‘Marvel took my name away’ | Hollywood News

Did we all miss Jenna Ortega’s Marvel debut? In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Wednesday star revealed she actually had a small role in Iron Man 3. Turns out it was one of her first gigs. But according to Jenna, Marvel bosses cut all her lines and even wiped her name from the credits. Jenna was accompanied her Death of a Unicorn co-star, Paul Rudd, during the interview. Rudd, of course, is no stranger to the MCU; he’s been playing the fan-favourite Ant-Man in the Avengers series for years now.

When the interviewer said, “I’m hoping we can get Jenna Ortega into the Marvel Universe,” Jenna kept a straight face and replied, “I did it once.” She went on to explain, “It was one of the first jobs I ever did. They took all my lines out. I’m in Iron Man 3.” Speaking about her brief role that went unnoticed, Jenna said, “For a quick second, I take up the frame. I have one leg, and I’m the vice president’s daughter,” she said.

Paul Rudd, sitting right next to her, jumped in with some optimism. “Marvel is very good at laying those breadcrumbs,” he said. “It might very well be that you come back. They’re gonna create something for you! ‘Cause they should be so lucky to have Jenna Ortega in their franchise.”
But Jenna Ortega wasn’t so sure. She shrugged and said bluntly, “They even took my name away.” She was apparently referring to the fact that she’s only credited as “Vice President’s Granddaughter.” The Scream star added, “I count that, then I move on.” Paul, clearly shocked, responded with a, “Whaaaat?!”
Jenna Ortega shows up in Iron Man 3 for just a few seconds about an hour and a half into the movie. She doesn’t have any lines, and her role is small. She plays the granddaughter of the Vice President, who is shown in a wheelchair. Her quick appearance explains why her grandpa (played Miguel Ferrer) is secretly helping the bad guys. As shown, the villains in the movie are using something called Extremis, a treatment that can regrow missing body parts. The Vice President is working with the villains because he wants them to cure his granddaughter using Extremis. So, instead of helping the heroes, Tony Stark (Iron Man) and James Rhodes (War Machine), he’s secretly on the bad guys’ side.
Wednesday Season 2 update
On March 14, Jenna Ortega shared with Collider that Wednesday season 2 is “still in the edit.” It’s already been two years since Jenna nailed the role of the iconic teenage Addams Family member in Netflix’s Wednesday, which went on to become one of the platform’s biggest hits. “I was doing ADR for it two weeks ago,” Jenna revealed. “That’s the funny thing about these jobs—you’re done, you wrap, but you’re not really done.” She added that she’ll probably be working on it right up until the very end. So, it looks like fans might have to wait a little longer.Story continues below this ad
As for season 3, Jenna said there’s no official green light yet. “We haven’t gotten an official thumbs up or anything like that,” she explained. “But I know the writers are… with a show like that, you kind of want to get ahead of the game. So, I think they’re already messing around and throwing out ideas.”
