Kamal Nath government stir up after IT notice, will government fall in MP?
Bhopal: In Congress, which is running the government in In Madhya Prades with the support of SP-BSP and Independents, has been shocked by a notice issued by the Income Tax Department to the MLAs. Of the 20 MLAs who have been served notices, nine are directly related to the Congress. But there is no threat to the government from the Congress side.
It may be mentioned that the Congress has 114 MLAs in the 230-legislative assembly in the state and the figure is two less than the majority. With the support of four independents, one from the SP and two from the BSP, the figure of MLAs supporting the Congress’ Kamal Nath government reaches 121. In the past, 20 MLAs, including nine Congress MLAs, have been issued notices by the Income Tax Department. These notices have been issued to these MLAs because the income information they have given during the contest does not match the information given during the last election.
Congress MLAs have been in turmoil within the party ever since the Income Tax Department’s notice was revealed. A veteran Congress leader says, “The Income Tax Department’s notice has posed a challenge to the government because the government is on the threshold of majority. The notices have also been sent to BJP MLAs, but the total number of MLAs supporting the Congress and the total number of MLAs is 14. If the court disqualifies the MLAs of both the parties, the Congress will be reduced to 107 and the BJP 102.”
