Kane Williamson analyses Sanju Samson’s batting in Hindi

We know that Kane Williamson has been to India often, thanks largely to the Indian Premier League (IPL), but ever heard him speak fluent Hindi? That’s exactly what the New Zealand batter was doing in an analysis show for the broadcasters Star Sports during the ongoing season.
In a video posted the broadcasters, the 34-year-old was seen explaining how a bowler should plan against Rajasthan Royals batter Sanju Samson. While he was actually talking in English, the video shows him explaining in Hindi, thanks to Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Williamson was seen discussing Samson’s strengths.
“Sanju Samson ki batting aur power hitting ka sabse important part hae unki movement. Wo short ball par bohot strong hae and box mein deep jake khelte hae. Wo piche bhi jaake khelte hae aur front leg emal karte hae, apne haat ko ghumate hae jisse unhe leg side pe ball ko dhakelne mein majat milti hae (The most important part of Sanju Samson’s batting and power hitting is his movement. He is strong against short ball plays, very deep inside the box. He goes on the backfoot and uses his front leg to hit the ball across the leg side),” he said.

Williamson is part of the experts’ panel at Star Sports after he went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction that happened last year in Saudi Arabia.
In an earlier video, Williamson was seen learning Hindi from former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh. It started with Williamson saying, ‘Hi, I am Kane Mama, naam toh suna hi rahega.’ It was a hilarious session where Harbhajan gave Williamson a chit in which the word ‘Century’ was written in Hindi.

Despite giving several hints, Williamson failed to understand the word. However, in the end, he finally understood it, and they burst into laughter.
