Kanya Shiksha Abhiyan exemplary effort: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called ‘Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav Abhiyan’ “an exemplary effort which will ensure more girls get the joys of education”. Modi also asked for efforts to make the movement a success. The campaign is a mission to ensure every young girl is allowed to pursue education and skilling.

Replying to a tweet of the Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani, the Prime Minister said in a tweet “An exemplary effort which will ensure more girls get the joys of education! Let us all, as a nation, come together and make this movement a success.”

On the eve of International Women’s Day, the Ministry of Women and Child Development launched the ‘Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav’ scheme to bring back the out-of-school girls back to the education system. The scheme envisages partnership of Women and Child Development Ministry with Education Ministry. The scheme will fulfil the target of Right to Education Act that seeks to bring out-of-school girls back to the education system.

Paying tribute to the ‘Nari Shakti’ in the country on the International day of women, the Prime Minister highlighted exemplary tasks accomplished by the women in different parts of the country as he recalled his monthly radio programme ‘man ki baat’.

One of the women in audio tagged by Modi includes 105 year old Bhagirithi Amma who even at her advanced age sat for class IV exam and passed it in a commendable way.
