Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur, dies of heart attack after swallowing bee during polo match | Bollywood News

Businessman Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar and Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, passed away Thursday evening at the age of 53. He is said to have suffered a heart attack while playing polo in England. The incident took place during a match, and as per business consultant Suhel Seth, who confirmed the news to ANI, Kapur accidentally swallowed a bee during the game, which may have caused the irritation. At the time of his passing, Kapur was married to entrepreneur and former model Priya Sachdev.
“Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleague,” Seth wrote on his X.

Sunjay Kapur passes away at 53
Sunjay and Karisma got married in 2003, in a highly publicised wedding, but their relationship went downhill the same route and in 2016 they officially divorced. The former couple share two children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. Sunjay was a known name in both the business world and Bollywood circles. His last social media update was about the recent Ahmedabad Air India plane crash which claimed the lives of 241 passengers. “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour,” he wrote hours before passing.

Under his leadership, Sona Comstar grew into a global player, especially in the electric vehicle segment. He was recently appointed as the chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) northern region. Sunjay was in charge for overseeing operations across multiple states including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and others. Following his death, tributes have poured in from both business associates and close friend.
