Facebook Messenger Games celebrate one year; rolls out livestreaming feature

It’s been one year since Facebook introduced games for Messenger, and the company celebrated this occasion by introducing new features and game titles.

Facebook has rolled out a new feature that will allow users to livestream the game they are playing on Messenger to their profile or page. It also offers an option to turn on the front camera and record the video to phone’s memory.

The new feature also enables users to video chat with their partner while they play a game together. The feature will be introduced with Words With Friends early next year.

Besides, the company also launched 20 new titles. Messenger now has 70 game titles which are available across the globe, featuring games like Tetris and 8 Ball Pool.

Facebook also revealed a new suite of games set to come to Messenger. Angry Birds will be coming to the app in early 2018 with the ability to play with friends. Other games lined up for 2018 are Sonic Jump by SEGA and new casual game based off Puzzle & Dragons.

Messenger’s move to enter the livestreaming space follows efforts already led by YouTube and Twitch, but their main focus is on the casual gamers, at least for now.
