Kesari 2 box office collection Day 13: Akshay Kumar’s film hits one last milestone before Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2; can it cross Rs 80 crore? | Bollywood News

The Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari 2 continues its slow and steady climb up the box office ladder. After a decent opening and a strong first week, the film has maintained its momentum into the second week as well. On Wednesday, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kesari 2 raked in Rs 2 crore, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 72.80 crore.
The film had minted Rs 46.1 crore during its first week of release. It had a solid second weekend, earning almost as much as it did during its opening weekend. There was a more than 76 percent jump in collections on Saturday, as the film brought in Rs 7.15 crore, followed a further 13 percent increase on Sunday, when it minted Rs 8.1 crore. This was followed a collection of Rs 2.75 crore on Monday. Thanks to a special ticket pricing initiative at select venues — Blockbuster Tuesdays — the film maintained steady earnings on Tuesday as well, bringing in Rs 2.65 crore.
As per its Day 12 numbers, Kesari 2’s worldwide collection stood at Rs 112 crore. However, its steady march toward the Rs 100 crore mark in the domestic market could face a hurdle with the release of Ajay Devgn’s highly anticipated Raid 2 on May 1, which coincides with the Labour Day holiday. On Wednesday, Raid 2 minted Rs 6.52 crore in advance ticket sales. This figure doesn’t include block seat data. When block seat numbers are included, the film’s advance booking collection jumps to Rs 9.68 crore. Also releasing on May 1 is The Bhootnii, starring Sanjay Dutt and Mouni Roy, which is expected to collect Rs 2–3 crore on its opening day.

It is also to be noted that both Kesari 2 and Raid 2 are sequels to two highly successful films – Kesari (2019) and Raid (2018). Who will win this box office race is yet to be seen.

Despite upcoming competition, Kesari 2 has held its ground remarkably well against other recent releases such as Sunny Deol’s Jaat and Emraan Hashmi’s Ground Zero. Jaat, which released a week before Kesari 2, minted Rs 50 lakh on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Ground Zero, which has been struggling since release, earned Rs 47 lakh on Wednesday, taking its total domestic collection over the first six days to Rs 7.17 crore.
