Kesari 2 box office collection day 6: Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force earned twice as much in six days, Dharma film earns Rs 42 crore | Bollywood News

Kesari 2 box office collection day 6: Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari Chapter 2 might have gotten some promising reviews but this has not translated in the film’s box office collections. Except for Sunday, which was its third day in the cinemas, the film has been stuck in single digits at the box office. On Wednesday, the film made Rs 3.2 crore at the box office, taking its nett domestic total to Rs 42.2 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
The film made recorded a slight uptick in its collection on Tuesday when it made around Rs 5 crore, which was likely to due to reduced ticket prices. It seems like despite all the positive, Kesari 2 will not be the film that pulls Akshay out of his rut of consecutive flops. Kesari 2 started its box office journey with Rs 7.75 crore at the box office and after a week, it is yet to cross the Rs 50 crore mark.

Akshay’s last release, Sky Force, which also starred Veer Pahariya, earned Rs 113 crore at the box office in India, as per Sacnilk, after a month in the theatres. At this point, it looks extremely unlikely that Kesari 2 will be able to cross that mark. After six days in the cinemas, Sky Force had made Rs 81 crore, which is almost double of Kesari 2’s collections. However, trade analyst Komal Nahta had accused makers of indulging in block bookings and claimed, “The total for 1st week was Rs. 40.50 crore. Of course, the records will show total collections of Rs 80 crore but that’s because heavy block booking of the unsold tickets was done on each single day of the first week to give the impression that the film was performing extraordinarily at the ticket counters.”
Kesari 2’s next big competitor is Rajkumar Gupta’s thriller Raid 2 starring Ajay Devgn, Vaani Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, and Saurabh Shukla. It’s slated to release on May 1.
Directed first-time filmmaker Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari 2 is produced Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. It’s the spiritual sequel to Anurag Singh’s hit 2019 horical war drama Kesari, also starring Akshay. The sequel narrates the true story of lawyer C Sankaran Nair, who fought a legal battle against the British empire in the 1920s.
Akshay Kumar plays Nair, Ananya Panday plays his associate Diljit Gill. Madhavan essays his legal adversary Neville McKinley. The film also stars Regina Cassandra as Akshay’s wife, Luke Kenny as a British judge, and Masaba Gupta in a special dance song. Kesari 2 is narrated Vicky Kaushal, who famously starred as Udham Singh in another film based on the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre in 2021 — Shoojit Sircar’s Sardar Udham, which released on Prime Video India.
