Kevin De Bruyne could join Lionel Messi to form an attacking dream team at Inter Miami: Reports

Kevin de Bruyne, on his way out of Manchester City at the end of the ongoing season after a trophy-laden career, could join forces with probably the greatest player of all time, Lionel Messi, at Inter Miami. De Bruyne setting up chances for the Argentine legend, and the latter returning the favour, could be a mouth-watering prospect for football fans.
It is understood that the Major League Soccer (MLS) club is very interested to sign the Belgian on a free transfer, although talks are not at an advanced stage at this stage. A move to the Saudi Pro League can also not be ruled out, where De Bruyne could join another legendary footballer in Criano Ronaldo, several outlets have reported.
The 33-year-old joined the blue half of Manchester in 2015 and has helped City rack up six Premier League titles as well as the elusive UEFA Champions League crown, being shortled for the prestigious Ballon d’Or on multiple occasions.

Inter Miami is co-owned former England captain David Beckham and the franchise signed Messi on a free transfer in 2023. According to MLS rules, teams can have a maximum of three players outside the league’s wage cap – Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. To make room for de Bruyne, they may have to do some business during the transfer window in July, ahead of the second half of the MLS season, MSN speculated.
De Bruyne is part of the so-called ‘golden generation’ of Belgian footballers along with the likes of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Vincent Kompany, who emerged on the scene at roughly the same period. However, despite having such talented players at their disposal, Belgium couldn’t manage to land any major silverware on the international stage.
If De Bruyne does move Stateside after a glittering career in Europe, it would raise the MLS’ profile even higher as he is considered one of the greatest players to grace the Premier League, equally adept in passing, technique, shooting and playmaking. He has also played for clubs like Chelsea, Werden Bremen and Wolfsburg, after beginning his professional career at Genk in his home country.
