While Trisha Gongadi took the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur storm, three other Indians made it to the Team of the Tournament, after India emerged world champions, drubbing South Africa in the final. Kamalini regered 2 of the top 5 individual scores of the tournament, including a 50-ball 56 with 8 tours against England U19s and a 42-ball 51 against Scotland U19s with 9 4s. She tallied 143 runs from 7 innings, averaging 35.75. she had the most 50s with two.

Kamalini is from the temple town of Madurai. She started playing cricket because her brother used to play. When her father was coaching them, he saw her to be more talented than her brother. So they would come to Chennai to play matches and give her better exposure. And with time they moved to Chennai so that she gets best of the facilities. She joined CSK Academy who have given her full access to their facility and she trains there everyday.
She was not originally a wicketkeeper but when she attended a NCA camp they told her to take up the gloves on a regular basis. And since then she is being coached former player Aarti at the TNCA academy.
Another Indian who did not make the ICC team but topped the World Cup averages chart was Sanika Chalke, with an average of 95 among batters. Sanika was 6th in aggregate runs on 95 with 5 not.outs from 6 innings.
Trisha had a stunning run with 4 of the top 15 scores, that included a 59-ball 110 against Scotland, with a strike rate of 186.44 and 4 sixes and 13 fours, with 76 runs coming in boundaries. Her SRs for two innings made the top 5. Trisha struck 45 fours, while Kamalini was second best with 23 in boundaries count. Trisha with her leg spin, was 15th best among bowling averages with 6.42, and 7 wickets, with 3 in the final.
Vaishnavi Sharma made the ICC team as a bowler, finishing with most wickets of the tournament at 17, while Ayushi Shukla who also made the cut, took 14. Vaishnavi had best bowling figures of 5/5 at an economy of 1.25 against Malaysia. She also took 3/5 against Scotland with an economy of 2.5.
Sharma took two South Africa wickets at Bayuemas Oval to finish the tournament in the final, the most of any player, while 17-year-old Shulka was equally consent.
Vaishnavi regered the 6th best bowling average of 4.35 with a SR of 7.76, while Ayushi averaged 5.71 at a SR of 11.35. Story continues below this ad
Parunika Sisodia was third best in bowling economy with 2.71, while Ayushi was fifth with 3.01.
Mithila Vinod (16 off 10) and Joshitha VJ (14 off 9) had the second and third best batters SRs, while Trisha was 5th, with 147.14 from 309 runs off 210 balls and the only century of the tournament.
ICC adds SA’s Kayla captain
ICC wrote: ‘South Africa, who failed to progress from the Super Six stage two years ago, have two players named in the XI. Kayla Reyneke is named team captain after taking 11 wickets, while Jemma Botha – who hit a crucial 37 off 24 balls in the semi-final against Australia – is chosen to open alongside Trisha. Fast bowler Nthabiseng Nini is selected as the 12th player.
England, who were beaten India in the second semi-final, have two players selected in Davina Perrin – the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer with 176 – and wicket-keeper Katie Jones.Story continues below this ad
Australia’s Caoimhe Bray is at number five, with the middle-order is completed Nepal’s skipper and all-rounder Puja Mahato, who scored 70 runs and took nine wickets – including four for nine against Malaysia.
The team is completed Sri Lanka bowler Chamodi Praboda, who also took nine wickets, including three for 16 against India.
