Kuldeep Yadav credits Rohit Sharma after Player of the Series award

Left-arm wr spinner Kuldeep Yadav has spent chunks of the past couple of years on the sidelines due to injuries. First, there was the knee injury he suffered in the Indian Premier League in 2021 which required him to undergo surgery. Then, he suffered a hairline fracture on his wr last year, which saw him sit out of India’s T20I series against South Africa in June 2022, and the tours of Ireland and England.
But Kuldeep has managed to put those scars behind him, claiming nine wickets in the recently-concluded Asia Cup, which helped him claim the Player of the Series award.
“The last year and a half has been amazing, I’m enjoying my bowling. I have been working on my rhythm and being more aggressive through the crease,” Kuldeep said to the broadcasters while claiming his cheque. Most Read

On Sunday in the Asia Cup final, he needed to bowl just one over, as pacers Mohammed Siraj (6/21), Hardik Pandya (3/3) and Jasprit Bumrah (1/23) took care of the Sri Lankan XI.
Kuldeep went on to add: “Credit goes to Rohit (Sharma) bhai. He encouraged me to work on my speed.”
Kuldeep was asked about the difference between bowling in T20s and ODIs. To this he said: “In T20 format, I just focus on the length and not on the wickets, but in ODIs you can vary your length and try a lot more different things. In T20s the length matters a lot. It’s about not thinking about wickets, just lengths. Been working on my speed and angles with my coach after my injury. I’ve been more aggressive and it’s coming very nicely.”
