Last year, we did a big favour to RCB, hope we get result we are looking for: Rohit Sharma

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma looked pretty confident after his team demolished bottom-placed team Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede on Sunday. With Mumbai’s win, they move to 16 points on the Indian Premier League table but their fate still hangs in the balance.
In order for Mumbai to qualify, Royal Challengers Bangalore need to lose against defending champions Gujarat Titans. Last year, it was the other way around when Mumbai’s result had a bearing on RCB’s qualification. A 5-wicket win for MI against DC ultimately would help Virat Kohli and Co go through to the next round as the 4th placed team.
Reminding them of that, Rohit cheekily said, “Last year, we did a big favour to RCB, I hope we get the result what we are looking for.”
We wanted to win and not worry about what happens elsewhere. What you can control, you can control and then hope for the best. If we don’t go through, we’ve got ourselves to blame for it. If we go through, I’ll give all the credit to the boys, he added in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Reflecting on the season so far, the MI skipper said, “We did a lot of things right as we went along. We didn’t start well and then won three on the trot. The crucial moments in the game that we lost – there were a lot of moments like that. The game against Punjab here where we needed around 34 runs off 18 balls, we could have probably played well. And the last game against LSG, we had the game in our hands after the first half of the innings. We can’t look too much into that. Sometimes it just doesn’t come along.”
In the match, Cameron Green struck an unbeaten century after uncapped Indian pacer Akash Madhwal’s 4/37 as Mumbai Indians secured a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Madhwal’s stunning spell at the death saw Sunrisers manage just 32 runs in the last four overs while losing three wickets to post 200/5.
In reply, Mumbai Indians got a perfect start with skipper Rohit Sharma (56 from 37 balls) and Green putting together 128 runs from 65 balls for the second wicket.
