‘Let him cook’: Trump’s tariffs sparing Russia spark meme frenzy | World News

Even as 180 countries reel from US President Donald Trump’s sweeping reciprocal tariffs, it has not gone unnoticed that Russia and North Korea have been spared. The exceptions have birthed a flurry of memes on social media with everybody from the Russian Embassy in Kenya to The White House and Tesla CEO Elon Musk putting their wittiest foot forward.
Hardly impervious to the social media discourse, the Russian Embassy in Kenya posted a cheeky meme showing other nations “fighting” while Russia lounges “relaxing,” unfazed the trade war.

The post, which amassed nearly 7 million views, came on the heels of a dramatic policy U-turn on Wednesday, with  Trump announcing a 90-day pause on his sweeping reciprocal tariffs just 24 hours after they had taken effect. However, the announcement accompanied a sharp escalation in tariffs on China, with the rate jumping to 125% from the previously announced 104%.
The slang phrase “let him cook” roughly translates to “let him do his thing” or “trust the process.” Dictionary.com defines it as “a slang phrase that means to freely let a person do something they are good at.”
