Lionel Messi to Saudi Arabia is a no go, representing company state: ‘Nothing with any club for next year’
Hours after reports surfaced that Lionel Messi will be following Criano Ronaldo to the Saudi Pro League next season, Team Messi, the company that represents the player and is headed his father, Jorge have denied the same and stated that a decision on the Argentinean’s career shall be taken at the end of the season.
“There is absolutely nothing with any club for next year. The decision will never be made before Lionel finishes the league with PSG,” reads the statement as quoted Clarin. “Once the season ends it will be time to analyze and see what is there, and then make a decision.”
It further reads, “There are always rumors and many use the name of Lionel to gain notoriety but the truth is only one and we can assure you that there is nothing with anyone. Neither verbal nor signed nor agreed, and there will not be until the end of the season.”
The statement also criticised he media for spreading “malicious rumors into news.”
“It seems to me a lack of respect for the media where they respond, that there are those who deceive consciously and deliberately, without providing any proof of their claims, and wanting to transform into news any malicious rumor or that is directed someone in favor of their interests. They would have to explain why they do not check their information. They won’t want the truth to ruin their ‘news’.”
The relationship between the Parisian fans and Messi has reportedly taken a blow following the 2022 World Cup final that saw Messi and Co end a 36-year wait to win the country’s third World Cup against France in the final.
PSG had suspended Messi last week, terming a recent trip to Saudi Arabia which came without the club’s authorisation as the reason for the same.
Following the same, Messi had recorded an apology video on his social media, “I thought we were going to have a day off after the game as always. I had this trip organized and I couldn’t cancel it. I had already canceled it before. I apologize to my teammates and I’m waiting for what the club wants to do with me.”
Messi, who moved from Barcelona to Paris in the summer of 2021, has been linked to a move back to the Catalan club. A move that has been publicly discussed and considered the hierarchies at the Nou Camp including club manager Xavi, who played large part of his club football alongside the Argentine.
