Living alone at 79, Sushant Singh Rajput’s ageing co-star worries nobody will come for her if she slips and falls: ‘Marte dum tak…’ | Bollywood News

Veteran actor Usha Nadkarni celebrated the recent 16th anniversary of her show, Pavitra Rishta, joining actor Ankita Lokhande on her YouTube channel and reflecting on their experiences together. Ankita headlined the show with the late Sushant Singh Rajput, who died in 2020. In a vlog posted on her YouTube channel recently, she welcomed the veteran Usha to her home, where they chatted about their relationship on the show, and the impact that it has had on their lives. Usha said that she lives alone at the age of 79, and worries about having nobody to call for help if she ever needs any. Ankita and her husband, Vicky Jain, assured her that they are just a phone call away.
Ankita confessed that she and Usha didn’t exactly have the warmest of relationships during the show, and would keep to themselves. But, Ankita said, Usha was instrumental in teaching her the ropes, and that she still applies many of the lessons she learned from her on that show, such as not demanding glycerin when she is required to cry, and not wearing excessive makeup. Ankita recalled that she asked to meet Usha on their last day on set together, and the two had an emotional conversation during which they teared up. Usha confessed that she had no idea why Ankita had called to speak to her, as they hadn’t interacted much before that.

Ankita said that everybody on set was aware of Usha’s fey nature, and expressed admiration for the veteran actor. “She lives alone still; she’s a firecracker,” Ankita told her husband, as Usha began to get emotional. “I’m a firecracker, but I get emotional. Dard hota hai… Because I live alone, I’m afraid nobody will come to know if I slip and fall. My son lives abroad, and I recently lost my brother,” she said, adding, “Who will be there for me now?” Ankita got up and hugged Usha, and promised that she will be there for her. “I told you even on our last day together on set, I’m just a call away, and the moment you ask me to come, I’ll come,” Ankita said.

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, the veteran actor had opened up about her plight. “I’m used to it. I’ve been living alone since 1987. I’m not scared at all. I used to be scared when I first moved in at my building. I would ask the guard to accompany to my door because I was afraid somebody would attack me from behind. But I’m not scared anymore. People can’t tell how they’ll die. Some people go in their sleep, some people die in the hospital. I’m not scared even one bit. If I die in my sleep, my neighbours would come knocking and think, ‘Buddhi ne darwaza nahi khola hai‘,” she said.
Signing off in Ankita’s video, Usha said that Pavitra Rishta has earned her millions of fans and admirers over the years. “Don’t stop loving me till the day I die,” she said, and Ankita said that they will continue to be loved long after they have gone.
