Miner of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh has arrived in Cairo as Prime Miner Narendra Modi’s special representative to attend the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

“Arrived in the horic city of Cairo as special representative of Prime Miner @narendramodi to attend the Gaza Peace Summit at Sharm el-Sheikh,” Singh wrote on X late Sunday.

The summit, jointly chaired Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, is scheduled for Monday afternoon and will bring together leaders from more than 20 countries. According to the Egyptian Presidency, the meeting aims to “end the war in the Gaza Strip, strengthen efforts to establish peace and stability in the Middle East, and open a new page of regional security and stability.”

India’s participation follows a last-minute invitation extended to Prime Miner Modi Presidents Trump and Sisi on Saturday. While there was initial speculation that Modi might attend in person, New Delhi opted to send Singh as its representative, reflecting a cautious approach amid sensitive regional dynamics.

World leaders including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Spanish Prime Miner Pedro Sánchez, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres are also expected to attend the summit.
