MCA to name one stand of Wankhede after India captain Rohit Sharma

India ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma will have a stand name after him at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced on Tuesday. The Divecha Pavilion Level 3 will soon be named Rohit Sharma Stand.
The decision was taken at the 86th Annual General Meeting, which happened in Mumbai on Tuesday. A major highlight of the meeting was the decision to increase the corpus for affiliated clubs to Rs. 75 crores, with a forward-looking plan to enhance it to Rs. 100 crores in the coming years, said MCA.
Two more stands, Grand Stand Level 3 and Grand Stand Level 4, were renamed as Sharad Pawar Stand and Ajit Wadekar Stand, respectively.

In a tribute to Late Amol Kale, former president of MCA, the match day office at the MCA Pavilion will now be known as the MCA Office Lounge in memory.
“Today’s decisions reflect our deep respect for the pillars of Mumbai cricket and our determination to build an even stronger future. These stands and this lounge shall forever echo the legacy of those who built Mumbai’s cricketing spirit — brick brick, run run,” said MCA president Ajinkya Naik.
Earlier, the MCA was in a fix after several of its members had come up with various requests for naming stands and walking bridges around the Wankhede stadium after renowned personalities.
The MCA had received requests and proposals from its club members to name stands or assorted places outside the stadium on its past presidents, Sharad Pawar, late Vilasrao Deshmukh, as well as late India captain Ajit Wadekar, late Eknath Solkar, late Dilip Sardesai, late Padmakar Shivalkar, former India captain Diana Edulji and current India captain Rohit Sharma.
