MediaTek launches Dimensity 9400 Plus with improved performance and 10km Bluetooth range | Technology News

MediaTek has been catching up with Qualcomm for the last few years, offering performance and features similar to their Snapdragon counterparts.
Now, MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9400+, its latest flagship chipset for Android phones. Like its predecessor (Dimensity 9400), the upcoming chipset boasts an All Big Core design, featuring one Arm Cortex-X925 core with speeds up to 3.73GHz alongside three Cortex X4 and four Cortex-A720 cores that operate at 3.3GHz and 2.4GHz respectively.
While the new chip brings a modest bump in the CPU department, MediaTek claims that the new 12-core Immortalis G925 GPU is 41 per cent faster and has 40 per cent more ray-tracing performance while drawing 44 per cent less power.

Like Google’s custom made Tensor chips, the Dimensity 9400  Plus also supports AI-assed super zoom and reduces power consumption 14 per cent when recording 4K 60 fps videos. Also, similar to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the new chip will support audio focusing technology that helps reduce background noise with support for up to six microphones.
On the AI side of things, MediaTek says the Dimensity 9400 Plus’ AI engine offers 2x performance and 80 per cent improvement to programs powered large language models.
While this may be impressive, MediaTek says that one of the main highlights is that the Dimensity 9400 Plus now “expands phone-to-phone direct Bluetooth connection to 10km” when in direct line of sight. For those wondering the new chipset packs a Bluetooth 6.0 chip with a peak data rate of up to 12 Mbps.
The company has confirmed that the first smartphones powered the Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset will be hitting markets sometime this month.
