Mika Singh recalls crying while singing in front of Priyanka Chopra: ‘Kaunsa Tansen ki aulad hai’ | Bollywood News

Mika Singh has delivered many hit songs in his long career. Despite being a well-known name in the Hindi and Punjabi music industry for years, Mika says he sometimes gets surprised his own ability to hit certain notes while singing. He recently recalled an instance when he cried while performing on a reality show that had Priyanka Chopra in attendance. Mika admitted that his emotional reaction on the show might have been exaggerated the actor and others present.
Recalling the moment, Mika told Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, “Sometimes I would cry lening to my own songs. I think it’s age also. I cried after singing two lines of a song on a reality show. If I tell somebody, they won’t believe me. They will say, ‘Kaunsa tu Tansen ki aulad hai’.”
He added, “I was singing the song ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ at the show and I became happy lening to myself sing. Priyanka Chopra was sitting beside me, and I started crying. Trolls said, ‘He can’t sing, that’s why he is crying.’ Now, the whole industry cries on reality shows, but when I used to do that, people would ask me, ‘Why are you doing this?’”

In an earlier interaction with SCREEN, Mika had revealed that his original intention was to become a music director when he entered the industry. He said, “In 1998, when my song ‘Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag’ came, it became a hit. But at the time, I wanted to be a music director, and not a singer. That is why I didn’t pay a lot of attention to my singing in the song. It didn’t matter to me that the song had a nasal tone.”
Mika, however, decided to pursue a full-fledged singing career after the song became a hit.
