Mohamed Salah signs two-year contract extension with Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract extension at Liverpool for two years there ending months of uncertainty over his future. Salah’s future was a major point at the club given that he’s established himself as a club legend during his stint at the Merseyside club with 243 goals in 394 appearances. This sees him ranking third in the l of Liverpool’s all-time top scorers.
“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football,” Salah said after the announcement was made the club. “It’s great, I had my best years here. I played for eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career (at Liverpool).”
“I would like to say to (the fans), I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies,” Salah added.

Liverpool will now hope to convince two other stars — Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk — to extend as well because they are also out of contract at the end of this season.
Thanks to Salah banging in a league-high 27 goals so far this campaign, Liverpool command an 11-point lead in the Premier League as they chase their record-tying 20th English league title.Over the past three Premier League seasons, Salah has been the league’s top scorer. At Liverpool, he has helped the club win seven major trophies including the Premier League in 2020 and the Champions League in 2019.
Club manager Arne Slot said: “Mo Salah is such a great player that as a free agent he can go probably to every club in the world, wherever he wants to. But he stayed at our club.”
