“India is a pretty strong. So I reckon they’ll probably win somewhere around 70 (runs). We could see something special from someone like Virat Kohli. He will be going to get his 50th hundred, tonight could be the night,” Hesson predicted.
He continued: “New Zealand chasing a big score and I guess, when they do the ball might nip around a bit. So Mohammed Shami might get six, maybe even seven (wickets) tonight. Probably Daryl Mitchell could be the highlight from the New Zealand perspective.” Most Read

All of Hesson’s predictions came true as India strode into the final with a 70-run victory. Batting first, they scored a mammoth total of 397/4, thanks to Virat Kohli scoring 117 runs off 113 balls and Shreyas Iyer too contributing with a ton. It was a record-setting 50th century in ODIs for Kohli.
As New Zealand begun their chase, Shami and Mitchell started to work their way towards bringing Hesson’s prophecy right. Mitchell scored 134 runs. Other around him could not keep up with just Kane Williamson going past the half century mark. It was Shami who ended up claiming seven wickets for 57 runs.
Thanks to their win, India made it to the final of the World Cup, in which they will face Australia on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
