My mom still believes I shouldn’t have smashed the glass: India head coach Rahul Dravid on becoming ‘Indiranagar ka gunda’

India head coach Rahul Dravid has conceded that after he shot the Cred advertisment, portraying himself as ‘Indiranagar ka gunda’, his mother couldn’t believe it.
On the reaction he has received post the release of the advert two years back, Dravid said in a recent event, “There are people who look at me very differently now, thinking when is this guy going to explode. It’s been a really good, positive response. I wasn’t very sure about the reactions. But I think it’s been really well received.”
“It’s been really positive expect for my mum. My mum is still not really convinced about it. I think she still believes that I shouldn’t have been smashing the glass. She’s like – you really think this is…?,” Dravid added on the shot that shows him breaking a car’s side mirror with bat.

“It is probably one of the most embarrassing things I have done – standing in Bombay in front of the street. Even though it’s an ad shoot and you know there are people around you, who are semi-actors or whatever they are. Still, for someone like me to stand in the middle of that road, keep screaming and shouting, was really embarrassing.”
Dravid is currently in the Caribbean as India prepare for their first assignment following the World Test Championship Final loss last month to Australia – an all-format tour of the West Indies that conss of two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is.
The tour is a first for the men in blue in the Caribbean since 2019 and comes as one of the final ones as India move closer to hosting the ODI World Cup in October-November this year.

The first of the two Tests begins on Wednesday at the Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica.
