Netizens question why Ileana D’Cruz has been replaced Vaani Kapoor in Raid 2, Ajay Devgn says: ‘New people keep coming in’ | Bollywood News

Ajay Devgn is all set to return to the big screen as Amay Patnaik in the film Raid 2. The much-awaited trailer of Raid 2 was unveiled on April 8 but it left many with the question why actor Ileana D’Cruz, who played the role of Ajay’s wife in the original film, is being replaced Vaani Kapoor in the sequel when Ajay is reprising his character.
A post on Reddit read, “In my opinion Ileana was good, she had a nice chemry with Ajay and they shared a good bond, and looked pretty as well. Then why did they replace her??” A user reacted saying, “Is Vaani the 2nd wife ? Or are they expecting the audience to forget altogether that Illeana was cast as wife in the 1st movie! I think it’s becoz Illeana was pregnant during shooting,” while another posted, “Valid question. Not only her,so many of the female leads are replaced in sequels even though the male lead remains same. Singham,BB3 and many other movies.”
During the trailer launch event, while Ajay Devgn addressed the casting change, Vaani shut down rumours of any rivalry. Ajay was asked about his character’s ‘new wife’ in the sequel and he said, “You see it in a lot of Hollywood films as well. Still, Sean Connery is not the only James Bond. It’s the character you follow, and then new people keep coming in.”
Vaani also clarified if there was any pressure or rivalry with Ileana, and added, “No jealousy with the previous one. We share a great equation off-screen. You just try to play your part in the most authentic manner and follow the brief of the director and writer. This film showcases a different side of me. It felt new and refreshing.”
