Nikhil Kamath reveals diet, fitness routine; says he struggles with sleep: ‘My first meal is at 2 pm’ | Fitness News

In a recent interaction on his channel, Nikhil Kamath revealed his diet and fitness routine. “My biggest issue is that I can’t sleep. I start work early and work out late at night. I struggle with five or five and a half hours. But the new thing I learnt is to sit on the balcony and stare at the sun for 20 minutes while I read a book every morning,” said Kamath.
He also said that he eats his first meal at 2 pm. “I do intermittent fasting such that my first meal is at 2 pm. I have a coffee at 11 am. I have a green powder supplement, fish oil, and vitamin D, and at night, when I work out, I have lemon tea and a protein shake after my workout. Then I go to bed. I don’t know if it’s working or not. We will find out someday,” said Kamath.

Consultant neurolog Dr Sudhir Kumar, Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad, who also advocates for a healthy lifestyle, said that his routine is a mix of the good and some areas that need work.

Reflecting on Nikhil Kamath’s eating window of 8 hours (2 PM to 10 PM) with 16 hours of fasting (10 PM to 2 PM), Dr Kumar said: “IF is associated with multiple health-related benefits, including weight loss, fat loss, better glycemic control and lowering of blood pressure. In addition, small studies have also shown positive effects on longevity. However, it needs confirmation in better-designed research studies.”
He works out in the evenings. “As long as one is consent, the timing of work out does not matter,” said Dr Kumar.

His eating choices are healthy. For example, fish oil reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. “Protein shake takes care of protein requirements. Coffee is also associated with multiple health-related benefits,” said Dr Kumar.Story continues below this ad

The only downside is less sleep duration. Dr Kumar emphasised that one needs 7-9 hours of regular sleep at night for better health. “Hopefully, he is working on this aspect (to improve his sleep duration),” said Dr Kumar.
