After his spellbinding performance to wrap up the T20I series over England 4-1 in Mumbai last Sunday, India opener Abhishek Sharma witnessed a massive jump in the ICC T20I batting rankings update on Wednesday.
The dashing left-hander smashed a heap of records with his 54-ball 135 while chipping in with 2/3 with the ball as India secured a massive 150-run victory. Abhishek recorded the highest individual score an Indian man in T20Is while smashing 13 sixes during the 37-ball ton, the second-fastest an Indian bat in T20Is.
The 24-year-old there jumped 38 spots from No. 40 to No. 2 in the latest ICC rankings, headed Travis Head with 855 rating points. Abhishek moving up to a career-best 829, pipped his teammate Tilak Varma who fell a spot to No. 3.

India skipper Suryakumar Yadav stands fifth and teammates Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube (up 38 spots to 58th) also made big moves up the rankings for T20I batters following some good scores against England.
On the bowling front, spinner Varun Chakravarthy moved up three places to equal second on the back of his 14 wickets and Player of the Series award. His brilliant form was also rewarded with an ODI call-up for the upcoming three-match series against England on Tuesday.
