‘Operated successfully’: India pacer Shardul Thakur undergoes foot surgery in London | Cricket News
Shardul Thakur underwent a successful foot surgery for a recurring injury in London, the Indian pacer updating about the same on his social media on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old shared a post-surgery photo on his instagram page captioned: “Operated successfully”.
It’s been an injury he’s suffered from before, having undergone a surgery for it back in 2019 as well. The injury resurfaced during India’s tour of South Africa earlier this year when Shardul was part of the travelling side.
Despite the injury, Shardul continued to feature in professional cricket – playing a prominent role in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy triumph. Scoring his maiden first class century, Shardul inspired Mumbai to a staggering 42nd Ranji Trophy title. He also featured for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024.
Shardul managed only five wickets in nine outings for CSK, conceding runs at an economy of 9.75.
Having played a big part in India’s series win in Australia, swiftly followed Test wins in England and South Africa in 2021, Shardul hasn’t been among the regular starters for the national team in recent times.
His last Test appearance for India had been during the WTC Final last year whereas his previous ODI appearance was during the World Cup against Bangladesh in the league stage. In the shortest format, the 32-year-old last played a game in 2022.
Overall, Thakur has 129 wickets to his name from 83 matches in all formats for India.
